The cache of photographs below were taken by a warrant officer with the New York State Merchant Marine Academy and they mainly present life about Empire State and its cruises from 1932 through 1933 with some photographs from 1941. The images detail the quotidian, inspections, explorations ashore, a dance, a boxing match, and a crossing the line ceremony. In all, the photographs offer a glimpse into what this anonymous officer wished to capture tempered by poignancy and a touch of good humor.
Note: The photographs are broken into batches of sixteen per gallery.
